How to increase Ps3 memory?

HelloI have an 80GB internal drive which is running low on space. Instead of replacing the internal drive (which I really don't want to do) I was wondering if there were any alternatives as far as external drives or memory cards that would offer substantial extra space (another 80gb maybe)?
